Pastor Rick Roberts

I am a second-career Pastor. My prior twenty-five year working career was in retail management, personnel recruiting management, and I owned a golf marketing company. Even though I did not hear it at the time, I first heard God’s call for me to become a Pastor in 1977 at my grandmother’s funeral. After many life/work changes, and hearing God’s call throughout it all, God helped me to accept God’s call.

In the Fall of 1998, I began my seminary experience at the Lutheran Theological Center in Atlanta GA. I completed my Master of Divinity at the Lutheran Theological Seminary in Columbia, SC in 2002. I began my first, and only call, at St. John’s on July 1, 2002.

My wife Kathy and I have been married since June 1980. We have two grown children. Our son, Chris, lives in the Philippines and our daughter, Mandy, lives in the Savannah, GA area. We love hiking, especially viewing waterfalls. Kathy is a retired Kindergarten teacher. She is also very involved in the Christian Growth and Worship ministry at St. John’s. I love playing golf, and of course, teaching, preaching, and leading worship. We are so blessed to be a part of God’s family at St. John’s.

FAVORITE VERSES

“For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, so that everyone who believes in Him may not perish but may have eternal life.” John 3:16

“For by grace you have been saved through faith, and this is not your own doing; it is the gift of God – not the results from works, so that no one may boast. For we are what He has made us, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared before-hand to be our way of life.” Ephesians 2:8-10

“Come to me, all you that are weary and are carrying heavy burdens, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me; for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” Matthew 11:28-30

Administrative Assistant

Anita Warren

I am a native of Nashville and have been the Office Administrator at St. John’s for over 20 years.

I have had the pleasure of knowing so many wonderful people in this congregation.  Before coming to St. John’s I worked in several professions and did a 10 year period as a stay at home mom.

Getting back in the work force and landing at St. John’s was the perfect spot for me.  I enjoy being around people and love getting to know families.

I have been in Nashville since 2009, and have been involved in music all my life, in many churches, choirs and ensembles. I’m grateful for the opportunity to bring joy to this congregation by helping lead our people into worship.

I’ve been married 30 years to CJ Boggs, and have a beautiful adult daughter Nicole.

FAVORITE VERSES

Psalm 100:1 “Make a joyful noise unto the Lord, all ye lands.”

I enjoy almost all kinds of music, so favorites are difficult to choose. I LOVE old hymns and their stories, and I also LOVE JAZZ which contains a lot of musical styles within it.
